Brigadoon... Brigadoon.... okay, it's a good thing you can't hear me singing, lol! this was the weather this morning. Very pretty to look at, but not so warm out.
I went out today and finished canvassing the neighborhood for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. I've volunteered to do this for the last 4 years. It feels good to give a little back to something that does such great work. With my dad having 2 heart attacks, this is something near and dear to my heart.
A boy and his cat. Or is it a cat and her boy? I'm not sure. Penny loves Matt, and when she hears him come in after school you can hear her hop down from some soft spot she is sleeping in and hurry down the stairs to greet him. As you can see the feeling of affection is mutual. :)
I played with paper a little today :) My friend 'A' showed my how to make these. I think they are so cute. I love the Tim Holtz mini stapler too, with the teeny tiny staples. It worked great for this.
The birds were crazy out there today! I thought I'd pull out my 70-200 with the 2x converter. This Starling was in the top of the tree across the road. I think it looks pretty funky.
Yehaw! Road TRIP! We decided to pop up to Comox to visit our good friend 'L', and also her good town restaurant ATLAS. It has THE most amazing food. 'N', 'A' and I hopped in the car. We were going to meet our friend at the restaurant. When we got there, oh the horror, it was CLOSED 'for a short winter holiday'. Well, you've never seen such a pathetic bunch of sad women :( We stood out in the rain, trying to decide what to do. We ended up going for lunch at another restaurant, and it was good, but it wasn't Atlas. I took this in the car on the way back. I think 'A' is showing what she would like to do to them for closing when we were so in the mood for that wonderful tasty delicious food.... hehehe gotcha 'A'!
That's my honey :) He's hard at work putting in the flooring in the basement/studio. It's going to look AWESOME! Thanks babe. I really do appreciate you doing this for me.
Once again today Penny feels the need to help me out. She totally cracks me up. I was playing with the lights again and she saunters into the room. I ask her if she would like to model for me and motion towards the bench. She hops up and starts turning on the charm... what could I do??? 
I was playing in my new studio trying to get the lights set up. I had a bench sitting where a person would sit to get them aiming properly. Along comes Miss Penny to help me, lol! She's so funny, and she KNOWS she's pretty too.
We went antiquing and also down to the market in Duncan today. On our way back the late afternoon sun was so gorgeous that hubby actually agreed to pull over at the Somenos Marsh. I was lucky enough to have just enough light left to get this photo of these two swans enjoying a swim just before the sun went over the mountain.
What a nutty cat. Penny loves this game. I was cracking up taking pictures of her. Especially this series where the toy fell right on her face and made her jump. (If you click on the picture you can see it better)
Ahhhh :) Another perfect day in paradise. This is a view off our deck. Love the fresh snow on the mountains across the water. I hope the skiers are enjoying it too at the Olympics :D
Hubby and I went for a drive this afternoon as it was such a great day. The weather was beautiful. We decided to go to one of our favorite places, Coombs. On the way we stopped at Demex, which is a scrap metal, recycled building supply place. This was one of the fun and funky metal rusty gates that we saw. I don't think it gets better than this - FONTY and DISTRESSED! I LOVE IT! Wish I could have brought it home, but it's about 20 feet long and 5 feet high.
We discovered a new game at our house tonight. We call it 'Mouse in Peril' I bet you can guess what happens next. Penny LOVES this game and kept waiting for me to put the mouse back on the railing so she could reach up and swipe it down.

The winter Olympics start today in Vancouver. We were going to watch just a bit of the opening ceremonies but ended up watching the whole thing. There were some great moments which made me so proud to be Canadian. I really enjoyed most of the cultural part of the evening too. Go Canada GO!!!
I was just heading out to do errands today and noticed a bunch of robins in the tree by our driveway. Then I noticed that the cherry blossoms were starting to get nice fat buds. I popped back into the house and got my nice long lens (70-200) and snapped a few pictures. It's been an insanely warm spring here. I love that you can also see the rain in this picture. We've been getting lots of that lately too. A little TOO much for my liking.
Crazy Cool Cat. Penny is obsessed with bags. Her very favorite are Costco bags. She gets quite upset with us if we bring groceries in and don't IMMEDIATELY empty the bag for her to hop into. Sometimes she snuggles right in and goes to sleep. She loves in when they are laying on their sides so that she can crouch inside and 'snipe' us as we go by. You can even pick her up and carry her around and she just purrs like crazy. She's one silly cat. Maybe I should get her her own bag so that I don't have to keep washing ours out... but where would the fun be for her in that??? :)
Wow, this year is flying by! Day 40... already :) I almost forgot about getting a picture today. Busy running errands and tidying and organizing. I was in my new prop room moving things around and gasped 'oh no, my picture of the day!' - Well here it is. Two of my favorite props :) My cute large froggy (about 16 inches long?) and a pink tutu :) 
Laundry day. WHY do I let the laundry build up so much. It's really not like it's that difficult to do, throw it in the washer, switch it to the dryer and fold it and ..... aha! That's what it is! I dislike (hate is such a strong word) putting away the clothes. Perhaps if I (and my family) could get rid of some stuff that we just never wear it would be easier to find room for everything... perhaps tomorrow... 
I'm so happy to see my Weeping Pussy Willow tree starting to get some cute little fuzzy buds. This must mean spring is coming soon... right? I also used this picture to play with some different effects as well, such as the Orton Effect (glowy and soft). I think it works pretty well with this picture. I can't wait until my sweet little tree is covered in little furry 'kitty paws' :D
I love the weekend. It's a great time to relax as well as get some chores done around the house. Here's hubby hard at work making sure the hot tub is functioning properly (wink). One of our favorite things to do on the weekend is to get up fairly early and take a carafe of coffee out to the hot tub and soak and sip and chat. Bliss :D
What a sweet heart. I was so happy to go back and visit little Miss L today and take a few more portraits of her. This is one of my favorites. She's 16 days old here. Isn't she so beautiful? I just adore her. Her mom looks SO amazing too for just having had a baby. Actually she just looks amazing PERIOD! She's a beautiful woman, with a wonderful heart. I'm so happy to be getting to know her and her family.
Ahhh :) There is nothing like my favorite fresh clean sheets just before a nap. I just LOVE these tan tone-on-tone EGYPTIAN cotton 600 thread count sheets from Quilts Etc. They just get softer and cozier each time you wash them. It just makes me want to snuggle right in. Perhaps I'll go do that now :)
I thought the layers of cloud/sky/sun/mountain/cloud/ocean looked amazing today. I wish that my camera was able to capture all the subtle variations. I personally could use a nice sunny day some time soon!
