Poor little hummingbird. He looks so cold.

November 04 2010 - Day 307

I love the view from my scrapbook room, especially when I get little feathered visitors.

November 02 2010 - Day 305

Bruce and I went to Crow and Gate for lunch today. As usual the swans were around. I'm glad they kept their distance though

September 24 2010 - Day 266

These little hummers are FAST :) They fight over the feeders too, silly birds.

June 22 2010 - Day 172

Turtle turtle duck turtle.
This isn't the greatest pic as it was with my little camera, and they were quite far away so I had to crop it, but I thought it was nice to see these guys sharing a log :)

June 09 2010 - Day 159

Home Tweet Home ;)
Just playing.... I've missed my 'real' camera.

June 05 2010 - Day 155

chirp chirp chirp
This Red Finch was quite enjoying our new bird feeder. I recently read an article on exposure compensation and thought I would try using it for this because of the bright white lattice in the background. It worked great. Now I just need to remember to use this great technique :)

June 02 2010 - Day 152

Not quite Ansel Adams, lol... but I love this huge old cedar tree at the end of our street. There are a pair of eagles that like to sit on the uppermost branch. There is only one in this photo though. Unfortunately part of the top of the tree got blown off last winter.

May 21 2010 - Day 141

Okay, thought I'd TRY to step away from the baby... and I found a baby robin :D A robin built a nest in our Photenia bush right outside dh's den window. It was hard to get this picture with all the leaves in the way. I did use my looooooooong lens so as not to disturb this cute little babe too much. He (she?) definitely has an eye on me!

May 14 2010 - Day 134

I think I've discovered a new species of 'hummingbird'!
It looks suspiciously like a Red Finch ;) It certainly loves hanging out drinking hummingbird food.
I 'almost' caught all of him leaping off the feeder in this photo.

April 18 2010 - Day 108

Just a quick snapshot of a little red finch taken beside our driveway. He looks like he's on high alert.

April 17 2010 - Day 107

Miss Penny, sitting just inside the screen door looking for birds. I don't know what she would do if one ever got close... lol.

April 9 2010 - Day 99

Just a quick snap of a Canada Goose. I love the detail in the feathers. She (he?) let me get pretty close too while still looking pretty relaxed.

March 30 2010 - Day 89

Chickadee... or should I say mockingbird? He sat outside my window for about 10 minutes. I finally picked up my camera, changed the settings, aimed and THEN he flew away.
Then I forgot to take another picture today. Hope tomorrow is a better day!

March 22 2010 - Day 81

Attention Wal-Mart shoppers - clean up in the parking lot...
I went shopping at 'the mall' today and there was a huge flock of crows eating McD's out of a shopping cart. I thought it was pretty funny so snapped a picture. I was going to take some other pictures and choose a pic of the day from those, but it didn't happen, so here it is.

March 09 2010 - Day 68

Thought I'd try something a little artistic today. This photo was taken through the window of our 21st story hotel room at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver. The weather wasn't so great out. I kind of like the result though.

Feb 24 2010 - Day 55

The birds were crazy out there today! I thought I'd pull out my 70-200 with the 2x converter. This Starling was in the top of the tree across the road. I think it looks pretty funky.

Feb 19 2010 - Day 50

We went antiquing and also down to the market in Duncan today. On our way back the late afternoon sun was so gorgeous that hubby actually agreed to pull over at the Somenos Marsh. I was lucky enough to have just enough light left to get this photo of these two swans enjoying a swim just before the sun went over the mountain.

Feb 11 2010 - Day 42

I was just heading out to do errands today and noticed a bunch of robins in the tree by our driveway. Then I noticed that the cherry blossoms were starting to get nice fat buds. I popped back into the house and got my nice long lens (70-200) and snapped a few pictures. It's been an insanely warm spring here. I love that you can also see the rain in this picture. We've been getting lots of that lately too. A little TOO much for my liking.

Jan 31 2010 - Day 31

The black swans at the Crow and Gate are stunning. I don't like to get too close to them though because they are huge. Once a few years ago I got a little too close and they chased my husband and I to our car. Those suckers can run fast (and apparently, I can run pretty fast when properly motivated, haha!). My husband thinks it's so funny that I make him watch out for them when I'm taking a picture, and if they start swimming towards me, I'm outta there.
This was taken with my point and shoot camera, and it was not the greatest pictures clarity wise, so I played with it a fair bit in Photoshop.
