December 23 2010 - Day 356

A friend posted a picture of these 'melting' marshmallow men. I think they are adorable so I HAD to try them and give them to my good buddy A and family :)

Somethings a little 'fishy' about this Cheezie... (groan, perhaps I'm running out of things to photograph?)

September 02 2010 - Day 244

Even the blackberries are confused this year. Here they are as flowers, berries and finished, ALL on the same plant. It appears that this moth is enjoying them.

July 30 2010 - Day 210

I have no idea what these 'fruit?' are.
They were growing on this thick, twisty vine at the Longwood Brewpub restaurant. Taken with Bruce's camera while we were out for lunch.

July 22 2010 - Day 202

The apricots are ready!
We didn't have many this year at all. I think it was the rainy rainy June that knocked all the blossoms off that did it. The few we have are HUGE though! :) Can't wait to taste them.

July 07 2010 - Day 187

Vancouver, a great place to visit. We always enjoy it there. We went to eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory. I had spaghetti with browned butter and Myzithra Cheese. It was SOOOO good! The cheese is dry, like a dry feta, but different too. Absolutely wonderful, and I'll order it again... next time ;)

July 01 2010 - Day 181

All the Wickes girls hadn't been together for a long time, I'm not sure how many years it's been.
We were celebrating with Ruth at her baby shower. There she is with her sister Leah, and her oldest (dearest, lol) friend Sara. Apparently Ruth needs a few lessons on how to hold a baby before Finley is born, lol... we were playing a game actually. Good times, and good food :)

June 30 2010 - Day 180

Ulysses Greek ribs. Heavenly! As you can see I quite enjoyed them :D
I was so happy to find that they still had them when we drove through Quesnel. It had been about 8 or 9 YEARS since we were there, and they were just as awesome as we remembered :) They were so nice too, as they didn't have them on their lunch menu, but when I explained that we had driven about 800 miles to get some, they made up a special order for us :D TWO thumbs (covered with spice) up for Ulysses Restaurant!

June 28 2010 - Day 178

mmmmm. Bruce makes THE BEST cedar plank Salmon on the BBQ. It's something we look forward to every summer :) It's a great feast for company too.

June 27 2010 - Day 177

YUM! King Crab, steamed over lemon, garlic and white wine. This is my all time favorite food. I love seafood of all kinds... great, now I'm hungry, lol!

June 16 2010 - Day 166

Top Banana ;)
I have been craving banana's since I got out of the hospital, they just taste perfect.
I played with this in Photoshop a lot, can you tell? lol!
and yes, it is a real picture of real bananas.

June 07 2010 - Day 157

Potassium and cranberry juice.... not a great combination. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) it was better than the horrible cream of asparagus soup they tried to get me to eat for lunch..... ick! I actually had to have TWO glasses of this. Thank heavens my potassium levels came back to normal.

June 03 2010 - Day 153

mmmmmm... Earls :D
They make THE best Clam Chowder. Bruce took me there for lunch today. I was going to get a picture of the soup, but totally forgot and ate it all. This was in the menu, and I thought it was pretty funny. I love fonty things too, so that was a bonus.

May 28 2010 - Day 148

I hate being sick :( I know a good thing to cheer me up though. This is THEE BEST chocolate cake ever.
See the secret recipe in the background? splashes of secret ingredient on the well loved paper? :D It is SO moist, and so decadent, and even not TOO sweet, very cocoa-y :D
I had a difficult time making it, even though it's not a difficult recipe, must be my groggy head... here's a little excerpt from an email I sent to a friend about the experience ;)
Clearly I am not all better.... I was making THE chocolate cake this morning, poured it into the pan, threw it into the oven and started to clean up... all of a sudden I shrieked, grabbed the oven mitts, pulled the cake out, poured it OUT of the pan into the mixing bowl and proceeded to add the 1.5 cups of sugar called for in the recipe. LOL! Thank HEAVENS it was only in the oven for about a minute.... It didn't come out of the pan very well once it was baked either as some of the marg that I buttered the pan with had melted off into the batter... BUT I prevailed... BUT then I started icing it while it was too warm and the icing started dripping off the cake... really, it was pretty darn funny... I scrapped the extra icing off the plate, let it cool (at this point it looked like the lunar surface) and finished icing it. Still looks a little odd, but I think it will taste good... I can't believe I didn't burn it too....

May 22 2010 - Day 142

With all the earlier good weather we had, our fruit trees are doing really well. If it would just get warmer out, we may have an early crop. I love apricots, and you can't beat fresh from your own tree.
